Bollywood box office has its first superstar film of 2024 and it is Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter which released the other day. The film opened to good reviews from the Hindi and Bolly tabloids but the openings are not on a good note.
Fighter opened with Rs 22 crores nett on the opening day and this is an ordinary number for a film that features Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone and is directed by Siddharth Anana who last delivered Pathan.
The film mainly struggled due to the lack of support from the mass belts which are mighty crucial for superstar films to succeed. The box office trend of Fighter is similar to that of Dunki’s. But Dunki was a class social drama and whatever ordinary numbers it posted are marginally understandable, but Fighter, being a commercial actioner, a better start is expected.
The film is likely to post over Rs 25 crores nett on the second day which can be a decent improvement. Fighter needs to have a Rs 100 crore opening weekend at any cost if it is to sustain the momentum at the box office over the second weekend.
The positive reviews from Hindi media are helping the cause but better box office numbers are needed for this commercial actioner.
