In the early hours of Sunday, Vishwak Sen posted a message on Instagram about the release of his Gangs of Godavari.
“Background lekapothe prathi na koduku mana game marudhham Anukuntadu,” he says. He stresses that his Gangs of Godavari will come on December 8th at any cost and he is ready to take any result given by the audience.
Spicing up things, he says, “Thagge Kodhi Mingutharu ani Ardhamaindhi”. He also adds, “If not December, you won’t see me in promotions anymore”. This looks like he is exerting pressure on his producer as well.
As of now, there are three more releases that weekend – Nani’s Hi Nanna, Nithin’s Extra, and Varun Tej’s Hello Valentine.
Gangs of Godavari has a strong producer in Naga Vamsi. He is easily the strongest producer among all the four films. Moreover, Naga Vamsi has regular distributors who are very strong in the business. Dil Raju takes care of Nizam. So, there is no question of someone coming, and ‘Mingadam’ a film of Naga Vamsi.
Naga Vamsi himself feeds theaters around the year with back-to-back films. And moreover, there is Dil Raju.
Hi Nanna has new producers. Extra has Nithin’s father Sudhakar Reddy. He is a distributor in Nizam but is not so active.
Operation Valentine is a Sony Pictures film and they do not have clout here to threaten others.
There is another theory that Vishwak feels Naga Vamsi is prioritizing his other movies over Gangs of Godavari. But which producer in his right mind would discriminate against his own film after investing so much?
There is also a chance of Dil Raju prioritizing other films for that date. But even that is confusing. In this case, Mythri does Hi Nanna in Nizam. Obviously, Dil will take Gangs of Godavari prestigiously.
But December 7th or 8th is not some Sankranthi or Dussehra to fight and clash. So, hopefully, better sense would prevail.
Some people on social media feel Vishwak may have started the promotion of the film with this post since he enjoys such controversies before every film.
