FIR On Nayanthara’s Film For Hurting Hindus

Nayanthara Annapoorani Movie

Nayanthara reached a big milestone with her 75th film, ‘Annapoorani.’ Directed by Nilesh Krishnaa, the movie stars Nayanthara, Jai, and Sathyaraj. It hit theaters on December 1, 2023, but sadly, it didn’t do well, earning just Rs 5 crore. Recently, the film premiered on Netflix, and that’s when the trouble started.

A complaint was filed at the LT Marg Police Station in Mumbai, accusing the movie of promoting Love Jihad. It’s also claimed that there’s a scene where actor Jai says Lord Ram was a meat eater, upsetting religious feelings. The film, titled ‘Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food,’ stirred controversy for misrepresenting Valmiki’s Ramayana and criticizing Lord Ram.

The movie follows a girl who dreams of being a chef but faces challenges due to her Hindu background. One controversial scene shows her performing Namaz before a cooking competition, wearing a scarf. Nayanthara’s character is inspired by a friend who claimed her Briyani tasted better after doing namaz. This scene angered many, hurting religious sentiments.

Despite being a theatrical and critical flop, the film is now making headlines because of the controversy. It’s gaining unexpected attention, and people are rushing to Netflix, thinking it might be taken down soon from Netflix due to the uproar.
