Former Miss Universe was tried for Shivagami’s role!

There is a beautiful saying in Hindi ‘Daane daane pe likha hai khaanewale ke naam’, which means ‘It’s written on every grain, the name of the person who’s going to eat it’. Shivagami is one such character which had to come back to the evergreen and most talented actress Ramya Krishna.

When Rajamouli wrote the character, he had Ramya Krishna in mind. But when he started casting he wanted to have a pan-Indian star to reach out for pan-Indian audiences. Hence he tried big names in Bollywood like Sridevi and former Miss Universe Sushmitha Sen.

Rajamouli feels lucky that no such trails worked for him and he had to go back to his original choice Ramya Krishna. It’s not only Rajamouli’s feeling, every audience who saw Baahubali can see no other actress in Ramya Krishna’s shoes as Shivagami. What say?
