Megastar & Superstar Together in Cult Classic?

Gautham Vasudev Menon, in a recent interview, revealed his initial idea for Ye Maaya Chesave, which involved a cameo appearance by Chiranjeevi at the end. This revelation has now gone viral on social media.

He stated that the initial story for Ye Maaya Chesave, which was a remake of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, was originally written for a Telugu superstar. He developed the story with a cinematic ending that included casting Chiranjeevi in a cameo role.

However, the Telugu superstar rejected the script, believing that if they collaborated, people would expect an action entertainer from them, and thus a love story wouldn’t work.

Furthermore, GVM mentioned that he later planned to make the movie with two debut actors, but due to its production value, he cast Silambarasan TR and Trisha in the lead roles.

This is how Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa was made, and subsequently, its remake, Ye Maaya Chesave, was made in Telugu with Naga Chaitanya and Samantha in the lead roles.

Following this, many netizens on social media started speculating that the superstar Gautham Vasudev Menon referred to was Mahesh Babu, as there was strong buzz about a collaboration between GVM and Mahesh Babu before Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa.

However, Mahesh Babu’s fans feel that Ye Maaya Chesave was a costly miss for him, and that if he had done it, it would have been a path-breaking movie in his career.
