Godzilla Minus Zero and Ramayana Part 1 face a premium-screen clash on November 6
The Godzilla Minus Zero trailer has landed, and Ramayana Part 1 suddenly has a tougher November 6 ahead, especially overseas. This is not just another release-date clash. It could become a fight for premium screens.
Godzilla Minus Zero is the first Japanese production filmed specifically for IMAX, giving it a strong edge when exhibitors decide which films get the best premium-format shows. Ramayana, with its massive scale and VFX-heavy presentation, will also need those screens.
That makes overseas the key pressure point. IMAX screens are far fewer than regular screens, and if Godzilla opens with strong demand, Ramayana could face competition for prime shows in important markets.
Godzilla also enters the clash with an established global audience. Godzilla Minus One proved the franchise can travel well internationally, while Takashi Yamazaki returns for Minus Zero.
Then comes the visual comparison.
If Minus Zero delivers another striking big-screen experience, audiences will inevitably compare it with Ramayana. The issue is not which film has the bigger budget. It is which film makes better use of the biggest screen.
For Ramayana, that is the real concern. It needs premium screens to sell its scale. Godzilla arrives with an established overseas audience and a film specifically designed for IMAX.
November 6 could therefore become a premium-screen battle before it becomes a box-office battle.
