HBD Nag Ashwin: Big Dream, Bigger Man

Nag Ashwin

Talented filmmaker Nag Ashwin showcased his prowess with Mahanti and then he immediately set off on the highly ambitious Kalki 2898 AD which stands as the biggest project, not just in his own career but also in Indian cinema.

Coming to the topic, Nag Ashwin is turning 38 today (April 23rd) and this is certainly going to be a big year for him as it provides him the opportunity to quickly become one of the most celebrated filmmakers in India.

Though there isn’t a clear idea of the premise of Kalki and what Nag Ashwin, Prabhas, and co. have in store for us, what is for certain is that the former is cooking something big. The scale and the vision of the project are expectedly super large if we take a look at the promotional content released thus far.

What is being conceived and executed with Kalki is something that hasn’t ever happened before in Indian cinema as there are reports that the film connects the extreme past dating back to Hindu mythologies to the extreme future. This could make for a visual wonder if executed well.

Nagi showed his prowess with Mahanati which is regarded as one of the very best biopics made in Indian cinema. But the stakes are multiple times higher in the case of Kalki this time and it is essentially a make-it-or-break-it situation for the talented filmmaker. The fact that he convinced stalwarts like Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Deepika Padukone shows he is cooking something big.

With Kalki likely to head for theatrical release this June, the anticipation couldn’t have been higher on Nag Ashwin to deliver on the big stage.
