It is emerging that the meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu the other day did not go all smooth. It is said that Chandrababu Naidu went red faced with the over enthusiastic interference of Niti Aayog Vice Chairman Arvind Panagariya.

While Chandrababu was explaining the fiscal position of the state to the Prime Minister, Panagariya tried to interrupt him twice by reminding about extra expenses like Runa Maafi and huge subsidies to power utilities. For which Chandrababu Naidu became very serious.
“All your financial lectures will be good to listen. I have the track record of implementing economical reforms or fiscal discipline more than any of you. We executed Runa Maafi only due to the bad plight of the farmers. And AP is better than all other states in maintaining power utilities. Losses of power utilities are not of this day and we have inherited from previous governments. We are now trying to reduce the losses”, Chandrababu very sharply replied. It was then Modi interfered and cooled down things.
