Kalki has recorded a very impressive extended first week at the box office as the film reportedly held firm at the Hindi box office. After a surprisingly good opening day, the film held its own even on weekdays to post what could be considered a reasonably very good number.
Thus far, Kalki has collected in the range of 165 crore nett in the Hindi belt which is good considering the low-key promotions that were in place.
This brings us to the big question, can Kalki beat the final tally of RRR in the Hindi belt? There is still uncertainty on this but the latest box office projections are suggesting that the chances of Kalki beating RRR are low for the time being.
RRR collected a nett of Rs 274 crore in its full run and this was largely thanks to the masses lapping up the film. This kind of mass appeal is missing in the case of Kalki in Hindi and this could prove to be the detractor in the end.
To put things in perspective, RRR collected Rs 132 crore nett in the extended first weekend. Though Kalki has bettered this number by a big margin, RRR enjoyed a long run due to contributions from the masses. This is missing with Kalki with sizeable drops in mass pockets across the North belt.
Nevertheless, Kalki is the biggest box office hit of 2024 thus far and these numbers will be a benchmark this year for Pushpa 2 which is arriving later this year.
