The Hindi box office saw two new releases this weekend and they are Merry Christmas and Hanuman, with the latter being a dubbed film.
Interestingly enough, Hanuman has started off on a pretty decent note in the Hindi belt. The revenues from Rajasthan and Gujarat are impressive, with the title of the film pulling the masses first up.
Hanuman is on course to collect in the range of Rs 1 crore nett on its first day at the Hindi box office. The film has started reasonably well in the mass belts which could be an indication of the long run that could follow.
The best thing for Hanuman is the lack of competition, paired with the Hindutva moment that has engulfed North with the Ayodhya Ram Mandir inauguration being the focal point.
Hanuman has opened to a decent word of mouth as well and that will also work to its advantage. The Hindi prospects are good enough at this point and if it can pick up over the weekend, the film can make merry at the ticket counters.
