Hotstar Rejects Akhanda Makers Request

Balakrishna’s Akhanda is going on dream run at the box office. Surprisingly enough, the film registered housefuls in a few centers today, more than 4 weeks post its theatrical release.

Incidentally, the makers had already signed 6-week OTT release agreement with Disney+ Hotstar. But after witnessing the box office pull of the film, the producer has apparently requested Hotstar to postpone the OTT release by a couple of weeks.

However, Disney Hotstar has apparently turned down the request of the makers of Akhanda. The OTT giant intends to make the film available for streaming on the platform this Sankranthi season. The OTT premieres date is expected to be announced shortly.

Akhanda turned out to be a box office blockbuster and Disney Hotstar now hopes to cash in on the buzz the film had garnered. Akhanda is one of the cornerstone films for Disney+ Hotstar and the OTT giant is in no mood to miss out on the same.
