The makers of the 2018 youth entertainer ‘Husharu’ have officially announced its sequel, ‘Husharu 2’. While the original connected with audiences through its youthful take on friendship and entertainment, the new film introduces a different setting and premise, with five friends chasing an ambitious dream.
Written and directed by Sree Harsha Konuganti, who also helmed the original, the sequel centres on five friends who are forced to rethink their lives after losing everything during COVID. Their attempt to make a fresh start takes them to Chittragunj, where they take up an unconventional venture involving an agave-based tequila distillery. The makers are keeping the larger turns of their journey under wraps without revealing much about the story.
The title announcement poster offers a glimpse into the film’s world. Kaboom beer sits on a truck surrounded by a giant snake, while a turtle appears underneath and a treasure chest filled with gold can be seen nearby. A factory forms the backdrop, creating a visual combination that recalls the legendary Samudra Manthan. What this imagery has to do with the five friends and their venture remains to be seen.
The film brings together Rahul Ramakrishna, Ashok Galla, Ravi Anthony, Dinesh Tej, Sasidhar Kocharlakota, Vidhi Yadhav, Abhignya Vuthuluru, Bhagwan Tiwari, Jatin Goswami and Rajai Rowan. The technical team includes cinematographer G. Srinivas Reddy, music director Sunny M.R., additional music director Ram Miryala, editor Vijay Vardhan Kavuri and art director Srikanth Ramisetty.
Backed by Caveman Stories, HK Films and Kaliyuga Vaaradha Creations, the film is produced by Rahul Varma, K. Veena Rani and K. Hanumant Raju, with Komatireddy Sharan Reddy as co-producer. The major shooting schedules are complete, and post-production is underway. ‘Husharu 2’ is being lined up for a year-end theatrical release, with more promotional material expected in the coming days.
