Music Maestro Ilaiyaraja was felicitated in a grand way yesterday at the music launch function of Ulavacharu Biryani. The film is directed by Prakash Raj, a self confessed fan of the music director. The duo has worked together in the past too on the film Dhoni which also had beautiful music.
Speaking at the function, Ilaiyaraja praised the director Prakash Raj and used the platform to criticize few as well. The music director was critical about directors who want the musicians to copy a song from. Its one thing to ask for a similar kind of song and it’s another thing to blatantly lift it. Inspiration is okay but copying is not, said the music director adding that he has never copied in his life. Only when a composer is free of such pressure can he come up with wonderful compositions like I have come up with, concluded the Maestro.
