I Wanted ‘Yatra’ Pitched Against ‘NTR’

Not every biopic is genuine as filmmakers tend to dramatise the events keeping the basic plot intact. This is Mahi V Raghav’s opinion on biopics and says that even his biopic ‘Yatra’ on YS Rajasekhar Reddy isn’t an exception. Everything that is shown in ‘Yatra’ is not from YSR’s real life though the events are the same, there would be some dramatic elements like dialogues and characters.

The young director actually wanted his movie to be pitched against ‘NTR’. But then, he thought that ‘NTR’ is coming as a single part and thought he would release his movie on 9th January. However, things didn’t work the way he thought. There were several movies for Sankranthi release and hence, scarcity of theatres to release his ‘Yatra’. Moreover, ‘NTR’ changed its course into a two-part movie with ‘NTR Kathanayakudu’ set for Sankranthi.

Now, there is no clarity on ‘NTR Mahanayakudu’ release but ‘Yatra’ will be coming on 8th February. Mahi V Raghav says that YS Jagan didn’t suggest any changes to his story but advised him not to show and claim something that YSR actually didn’t do. There are no political intentions, says the director who thinks to pitch his movie against a big movie like ‘NTR’ would have given his biopic certain mileage.
