Sequels are ruling the roost these days. One such hyped sequel from Tamil cinema that had great potential is Indian 2 (Bharateeyudu 2 in Telugu). The teaser of the film dropped a short while ago.
The teaser has instantly opened to mixed reviews from netizens who are complaining that Shankar mark is missing in the teaser.
Indian is a classic blockbuster featuring Kamal Haasan and it is one of the finest works of Shankar to date. The social drama which takes a dig at corruption in India was a raging hit back then. So the stakes are naturally high on the sequel.
However, whatever content that is shown in the teaser hasn’t necessarily matched the expectations. Incidentally, even Anirudh’s soundtrack is getting a mediocre response.
A sequel for a social drama like Indian is expected to have a serious teaser with references to current day politics, that sets the tone for what’s to come with the full film.
But in the case of the teaser of Indian 2, Shankar tries more of an entertaining angle rather than the presentation of the emotional core, which appears to have backfired.
And at the same time, a few opine that there is enough grandeur in the presentation and are satisfied with the teaser. They comment that taking the entertaining angle can bring the film closer to the current-gen audience.
We see a host of actors including Siddharth, SJ Suryah, Rakul Preet Singh, and others alongside Kamal. The onus is now on Shankar to put this mixed response for the teaser behind him and deliver a winning product as a lot is at stake with this much-hyped pan-Indian film.
