Is KGF: Chapter 2 Getting Royal, Baahubali 2 Treatment?

Over the past week or so, several Bollywood movies have announced their release dates. In the previous weeks, the Telugu film industry did that same. Looking at the announcements, one can’t help but feel if KGF: Chapter Two is getting a royal treatment ala Baahubali 2.

Remember, when Baahubali: The Beginning released, not many gave it a chance. It had to settle for a low key release in pre-Eid days when not many films prefer to arrive. However, tables turned when it came to Baahubali: The Conclusion. Part 2 got a royal treatment like a Bollywood biggie. It got peak summer solo release with no real competition.

It is the same case with KGF. The first part came in competition with a Bollywood biggie and had to struggle to get screens initially. Now, KGF: Chapter 2 is getting left unchallenged despite it locking a holiday weekend.

So far, all the announcements made in Bollywood clash with all other Tollywood pan-India biggies like Major, Radhe Shyam, Pushpa, and Liger. Even RRR has Maidaan to deal with in a couple of days.

But, no announcement has been made for July 16th slot. Most of the prominent biggies are also locked with a date at this point. We have to see if someone takes the date as it is a festive weekend slot.

The crazy response to the teaser has taken the anticipation of the movie to the next level. As it is a concluding part, there is an additional curiosity in the film. Is that enough – we will know in the coming days.

Prashanth Neel directs KGF: Chapter 2. Yash stars in the lead, whereas Sanjay Dutt will be seen as his nemesis. Raveena Tandon plays a vital role. The Bollywood presence seems to be working in its favour.
