Appalasoori: Buchi Babu Continuing Sukumar’s Legacy?

Ram Charan‘s next pan-India attempt, Peddi, is currently busy with its final stage of shooting. Recently, the team filmed several important scenes in Delhi, and a few pictures from the sets went viral on social media. As planned earlier, the makers are working with a clear target of releasing the film in theatres on March 27, 2026.

Now, the team has surprised everyone by releasing the first look of a star actor from the film. At first glance, it is genuinely difficult to recognize who he is. The person seen in the newly released poster is Jagapathi Babu. He once played lead roles in many hit films and, in recent years, has remained extremely busy as a character artist. Audiences are used to seeing him in mass or classy roles with a fairly familiar appearance. However, for Peddi, the makers have transformed him completely.

Jagapathi Babu will be seen as a character named Appalasoori. His look is rugged, aged, and raw, making him almost unrecognizable. With unkempt grey hair, a thick beard, round spectacles, and a hardened expression, he appears as someone who has lived through struggle and hardship. His simple, earthy attire strengthens the rural tone of the character. At this stage, the makers have not revealed whether Appalasoori is a positive or negative character. Audiences will have to wait until the film’s release to find out.

Sukumar has given some memorable characters to Jagapathi Babu in films like Nannaku Prematho and Rangasthalam. So there are hopes that his disciple Buchi Babu Sana also follows the same tradition and gives Jagapathi Babu a meaty role where he can leave a long lasting impact.

Peddi is being made with a strong sports based backdrop. Janhvi Kapoor plays the female lead opposite Ram Charan, while Kannada superstar Shivanna appears in an important role. Director Buchi Babu Sana has designed the script in such a way that every character holds significance. Legendary composer A. R. Rahman is providing the music.

The first single Chikiri already became a viral sensation, and now the striking first look posters are further building curiosity as one of the most awaited releases in the coming year.
