Anirudh Ravichander's music in Jailer 2
Anirudh Ravichander is the most commercially established music composer of this generation, not just in Tamil cinema, but also across Indian cinema. The kind of populistic music that he can compose is beyond ordinary and his insanely positive track record has been suggesting the same.
But in the case of his upcoming film, Jailer 2, it appears that Anirudh has failed miserably in coming up with at least a reasonably good soundtrack for this film.
None of the songs that have been released till date have been able to gain any significant traction on social media. There are a bunch of reels on the Ala Bolelo song but that’s also very minimal in nature.
Generally, when an Anirudh album is releasing, there is insane social media aura surrounding the same with countless reels and cover versions. But possibly for the first time in recent years, Anirudh Ravichander is getting absolutely underplayed to the fullest capacity.
The musical impact of this Rajinikanth film is nearly zero. This is the extreme opposite of what one would be expecting from a film that has music by Anirudh Ravichander.
This is particularly shocking, considering the fact that Anirudh frequently refers to Rajinikanth as his godfather and also his favourite hero of all time. So the kind of musical duty that he would be expected to do for Rajinikanth is beyond ordinary as well.
This is possibly one of the weakest works for Anirudh in recent times, and people are already starting to spec if this is reflective of the actual content of the film. But it must be kept in mind that even the first part released with very minimal expectations and created a sensation. The team will be hoping for a similar result for the sequel too.
