CBFC, BJP, DMK: Jana Nayagan at the Centre of a Storm

Vijay’s final film Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth, was scheduled for release on January 9th. However, the film has been postponed due to delays in censorship. The uncertainty has now raised doubts about its release in the near future.

Initially, Vijay fans were deeply emotional, as Jana Nayagan marks the actor’s last film. That disappointment has now shifted into anger, with many blaming the CBFC for delaying the certification process.

In recent weeks, the anticipated clash between Vijay’s Jana Nayagan and Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi was seen as politically charged. Many viewed it as a face-off between the ruling DMK and Vijay’s political party, TVK.

Several believed that the DMK played a role in the CBFC delay. However, the situation took an unexpected turn after the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin, openly criticised the CBFC.

In a post on his X account, MK Stalin stated that after the ED and IT departments, the CBFC has also come under the control of the Central Government, led by the BJP. This statement added a strong political angle to the censorship issue.

Following this, several BJP members rejected the accusation. They responded by stating that their party had no role in delaying the film’s certification.

Meanwhile, many celebrities came out in support of Vijay. Actors like Simbu and composer GV Prakash Kumar expressed solidarity during this challenging phase.

However, directors Lokesh Kanagaraj, Nelson Dilipkumar, and Atlee have remained silent on the issue so far.

Their silence has upset sections of the Kollywood audience and Vijay’s fans. Many argue on social media that these directors often call Vijay their brother at public events but are now quiet due to their associations with Red Giant Movies and Sun Pictures.

Fans further claim that this silence proves the bond was used only for fame and fan support. Since the postponement of Jana Nayagan, social media continues to be flooded with debates, theories, and political arguments around the issue.
