Vijay’s final film Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth, was initially scheduled for release on January 9. The film was delayed due to pending censorship certification, and there is still no official update on its revised release date.
The situation became more serious after Jana Nayagan was leaked online a few weeks ago. This incident shocked the Kollywood industry. Trade experts urged the makers to release the film quickly, but the CBFC certification is still pending.
Recent reports suggest that the Revising Committee has already viewed the film. However, one more screening is required before the final certificate is issued. If the process is completed soon, the film may release in early May.
If there are further delays from the CBFC, Jana Nayagan may not release in May at all. This uncertainty has created tension among trade circles, especially after the leak increased pressure on the producers.
The delay is also affecting Yash’s pan Indian film Toxic, which is produced by KVN Productions. Toxic was earlier planned for release on March 19 but was postponed due to the Gulf War situation and to avoid a clash with Dhurandhar 2.
The film was later rescheduled to release on June 4. Trade experts believe that if Jana Nayagan releases in early May, Toxic can stick to its current release date without any issues.
However, if Jana Nayagan is pushed to late May or early June, Toxic may face another delay. Experts say KVN Productions cannot manage two major releases within a short gap or at the same time.
In addition to these challenges, KVN Productions is also dealing with delays related to KD The Devil. Despite completing its shoot, the film still does not have a confirmed release date.
With three major projects facing uncertainty, KVN Productions is under pressure. The situation may improve only after Jana Nayagan clears censorship and locks its release date in the coming weeks.
