TN Polls Announced: Why Jana Nayagan Must Release on Apr 30?

The Election Commission of India has finally announced the much-awaited election dates for Tamil Nadu, with polling scheduled for April 23rd and the counting of votes on May 4th.

The makers of Suriya’s Karuppu and Vijay’s final film Jana Nayagan, who have been waiting for the election schedule, are expected to lock in their release dates within a few days and official updates are anticipated soon.

Even though there has been no clarification regarding Jana Nayagan’s censorship certificate, reports suggest that trade circles are expecting the film to be released on April 30th at any cost, ahead of the election results on May 4th.

This is because they suggest that if Vijay‘s TVK party does not perform well in the elections, expectations for the movie might crash; consequently, the opening for Jana Nayagan could be affected and it would heavily damage its box office collections. Therefore, they prefer to release the film before the results are announced.

Regarding these suggestions from trade circles, some trackers note that if Jana Nayagan is to be released on April 30th, the team must obtain its censorship certificate within the next two weeks and begin promotions. They point out that the current buzz for the film is low and the makers need at least three weeks to properly schedule the release across the state.

On the other hand, the makers of Dhanush’s Kara have already locked in the April 30th release slot. If the Jana Nayagan team decides to release on the same date, the collections for Kara might be affected.

Therefore, many feel that the Jana Nayagan team should announce its release date as soon as possible, allowing the Kara team enough time to either stick to their announced date or postpone it.
