Janhvi Kapoor has once again landed in the middle of social media criticism. The actress recently faced backlash for allegedly overacting in a new advertisement for a women’s leggings brand.
Since her 2018 debut in the Bollywood romantic drama Dhadak, Janhvi has often been trolled online. Despite consistent work, criticism around her performances has followed her across projects.
Over the years, she has acted in nearly 14 films across multiple genres. However, many viewers still believe she is yet to fully establish her acting credibility on the big screen.
Janhvi made her Telugu debut alongside Jr. NTR in the 2024 action film Devara Part 1. Even here, audiences felt her role was limited and largely glamorous.
Her performances in films like Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Milli, Ulajh, and Homebound earned some appreciation. Still, these films failed to leave a strong impact on mass audiences and critics.
Despite mixed responses, Janhvi is now preparing for her second Telugu outing, Peddi, opposite Ram Charan. The pairing has created noticeable buzz across both industries.
Scheduled for release on 27 March 2026, the film’s promotional song “Chikiri” has already become a chartbuster in Telugu and Hindi.
However, some viewers feel the actress appears over-sexualised once again. This has sparked concern over whether her role will have substance.
Fans are now keen to see if director Buchi Babu Sana can present Janhvi in a more performance-driven role. As she navigates criticism in Bollywood, audiences hope Telugu cinema offers her a stronger footing.
