2025 is up and underway, as we are already nearing the completion of January. Here is a look at how Tollywood fared at the box office this January.

The month and also the year started with Game Changer. With this being Ram Charan‘s immediate, next film after RRR, the stakes were high. But the film couldn’t match the box office expectations that were laid upon it.

The makers publicized mighty numbers in the collections posters but there were several complaints on social media about the authenticity of these numbers. In any case, this isn’t even remotely the kind of film that Charan needed after RRR.

Then came Daaku Maharaaj on January 12 and it had a pretty good start. Though the film slowdown considerably in the second week, the strong start and the upswing on second weekend ensured that it was a moderate winner at the box office.

Lastly, we have Sankranthi Ki Vasthunnam which went absolutely bonkers. The film punched considerably above its weight, being the only Sankranthi-themed entertainer that catered to the festival audience.

With the other two films having a serious tone, this left open ground for the Venkatesh film and it absolutely fired with all guns. This box office vacuum that was left by GC and Daaku worked very much in favor of the film.

In terms of investments and theatrical returns, Sankranthi Ki Vasthunnam is the biggest winner. But on a whole, this is a mixed Sankranthi for Dil Raju as he blew hot and cold with GC and the Venky film. On the other hand, Balakrishna could make it four hits on the trot with Daaku which is a significant feat.
