NTR-Neel’s Dragon: Makers Bringing in Another Director?

Jr. NTR’s pan-India film Dragon, directed by Prashanth Neel, is now progressing at a steady pace. Although the release has been pushed to 2027, the team has picked up speed after facing multiple delays earlier in production.

According to industry buzz, some key action sequences have reportedly been entrusted to Deva Katta. While there is no official confirmation yet, this development has caught attention.

Deva Katta is widely respected for his writing. His ability to craft sharp, impactful dialogues even impressed S. S. Rajamouli, who brought him in for dialogue work on Varanasi. Now, it appears Prashanth Neel is taking a similar route. Since Dragon is heavily targeted at Telugu audiences, the focus seems to be on delivering strong, memorable dialogues. Sources suggest Deva Katta has already written several powerful lines for the film.

But this move has also raised concerns.

While his writing is appreciated, Deva Katta’s track record as a director has not been consistent at the box office. Fans are clear about one thing. They want Prashanth Neel’s stamp on every frame. The idea of another director handling portions of the film has not gone down well with a section of the audience. However, these are mere speculations, and nothing is officially confirmed.

On the casting front, Rukmini Vasanth plays the female lead, with Ravi Basrur composing the music. There is also strong speculation that the film could be released in two parts, given its scale.

Meanwhile, a key role remains unfilled after Tovino Thomas opted out. The team is reportedly in talks with a few actors, but no replacement has been finalized yet, adding to the curiosity.

After the disappointing response to War 2, expectations among NTR fans are riding heavily on this project. Early reports suggest he will be seen in two distinct shades, offering a fresh and never-seen-before characterization.

The makers are said to be planning a teaser release around the Dussehra season, aiming to build strong momentum. At this stage, the film carries massive expectations, and every decision, big or small, is being closely watched.
