Kaala Shocks TN – Telugu States Not Surprised

Superstar Rajinikanth’s Kaala has come as a massive shock to the Tamil Nadu trade who were hoping big things. The Tamil film industry is going through a dull phase, and Kaala was expected to bring it out of the slump. Unfortunately, that has not happened.

Kaala has failed to get a big opening that is usually expected from a Superstar Rajinikanth film. The matter of the fact is that it is not in the top 5 all-time openings in Tamil cinema. It is way below in the order of highest opening movies in Tamil Nadu that is led at the top by Vijay starrer Mersal.

Another shocking fact is that Kaala is not even personal best for Rajinikanth. That would be Kabali, and the gap between them is enormous. Even Lingaa is a better opener than Kaala. That is how weak it is.

Coming to the Telugu dubbed version, there is no surprise or shock among the Telugu states. It was on the cards looking at the bookings. We had reported how Kaala was flirting with Lingaa’s numbers. It turns out Kaala may be lower in final cume compared to Lingaa. For the long run, the writing seems to be clear on the wall unless a weekend boost happens unexpectedly.
