KP Chowdary commits suicide

Film producer KP Chowdary, known for distributing the Telugu version of Kabali, died by suicide in Goa on Monday.

Reports suggest he was struggling with a financial crisis and was deeply affected by his arrest in a drugs case.

In June 2023, Cyberabad Police arrested KP Chowdary for drug possession. Authorities seized 90 sachets of cocaine weighing 82.75 grams from him. Following this, he faced severe financial setbacks and moved to Goa.

There, he started OHM Club, where he mingled with visiting celebrities and friends from Hyderabad.

Chowdary had a background in mechanical engineering and once worked as the Director of Operations at an aeronautical institute in Pune.

He entered the film industry in 2016 but failed to make significant profits. His distribution ventures for Sardar Gabbar Singh, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, and Kanithan did not yield expected returns.

Reports also suggest Chowdary was involved in drug procurement from a Nigerian dealer, Petit Ebuzer. He was allegedly linked to drug lord Edwin Nunes, previously arrested by the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW).
