Prabhas’ movie Kalki 2898 AD is breaking records with its overseas premieres and is set to be a massive opener. The domestic bookings should also open in a few hours and it is going to be a frenzy at the box office for the next few days.
In total, the film’s business in the Telugu states is about 175 crores. Other parts of South India are around 50 crores, North India is 120 crores, and overseas rights are valued at 80-100 crores.

To break even, the movie needs to earn a share of 420 crores, which equals about 780-800 crores gross worldwide.
For Kalki 2898 AD to be a hit, it has to surpass a massy film like Salaar and an SS Rajamouli blockbuster like Baahubali.

Prabhas’ highest-grossing film without director SS Rajamouli is Salaar, with over 550 crores. His second best is Saaho with 420 crores, followed by Adipurush with 330 crores.
This time, Prabhas needs to reach the 800-crore mark without SS Rajamouli’s brand.

The first weekend gross will totally depend on Prabhas’ stardom alone. Irrespective of word of mouth, he has to pull in crowds for the first three days not just in Telugu states, but also in the rest of South India, Hindi belts, the US, and other overseas markets.
The first-weekend target is a minimum of 300-320 crores gross if it has to reach the 800 crore mark in the long run.
There isn’t much competition for the next few weeks, so if the film receives a super positive response, the content will take over and the film should reach its breakeven target in three weeks.
