Kalki 2898 AD is having a dream run at the Hindi box office, with all eyes now on the Hindi version as it becomes the main contributor to the film’s collections.
After a massive first weekend of 110 crores net, expectations were for Kalki 2898 AD to drop by 40-50% on its first Monday, collecting around 11-13 crores. However, it has surpassed all expectations, passing the crucial Monday test with flying colors.
The film collected around 16 crores, representing only a 20% drop from the first day. This takes the film’s total to approximately 125 crores net, indicating a promising trend and potential for a long, successful run.
Kalki 2898 AD is on track to become a 250-crore net film with a distributor share of 130-140 crores. If it reaches this milestone, it will be classified as a super hit. Additionally, the film has the potential to touch the 300-crore mark, making it a blockbuster.
SS Rajamouli’s RRR collected 17 crores on its first Monday after a 95-crore four-day weekend, during a time when the box office was struggling post-COVID. Despite the challenges, RRR went on to collect 275 crores in its lifetime.
Kalki 2898 AD is already ahead of RRR by 15 crores after its first weekend, with a strong first Monday collection of 16 crores. The box office has fully revived now, presenting a much better situation for movies compared to the time of RRR’s release.
Given this favorable environment, Kalki 2898 AD is expected to surpass RRR’s business in the Hindi markets and emerge as a blockbuster. Much will depend on how the film performs during its second weekend.
