Nag Ashwin has proved himself as a capable director with his first two films Yevade Subramanyam and Mahanati. These films won love and appreciation from all quarters including rewards and awards.
Now, he ventures into uncharted territory with a futuristic action thriller titled Kalki 2898 AD, featuring powerhouse performers Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan.
After Salaar Prabhas is a different beast now. Despite the imperfections in Salaar, it’s undeniable that Prashanth Neel masterfully utilized Prabhas’ cutout, presenting him in an unprecedented avatar on an epic scale.
Neel efficiently masked flaws and highlighted Prabhas’ strengths, creating a lasting impact with intense and brutal action sequences that elevated Prabhas’ image to new heights.
Now Nag Ashwin has an extremely tough challenge of matching up to the elevations given by Prashanth Neel to Prabhas in Salaar.
Prashanth Neel has always been a terrific director when it comes to visualizing action blocks as we have seen in the KGF series as well so he could execute the brilliant action set pieces in Salaar.
But Nag Ashwin seems to be a soft guy who has only made emotional dramas and Kalki is going to be his first film in the action zone. There are tremendous expectations in terms of scale and action from Prabhas after Salaar.
Can Nag Ashwin successfully project Prabhas in Kalki, matching or even surpassing the impact created by Prashanth Neel in Salaar? It’s an intriguing prospect that will undoubtedly be keenly watched by the audience as well as critics.
