Kantara 2: Another Global Blockbuster Like RRR?

Todor Lazarov on Kantara Chapter 1

Kantara: Chapter 1 is among the most awaited Indian releases of 2025. Hollywood stunt director Todor Lazarov has already called it a blockbuster, praising Rishab Shetty’s powerful vision and the film’s global appeal.

Lazarov revealed that he cancelled two prior projects after meeting Rishab Shetty, as the director’s vision for the climax moved him deeply. Comparing his experience to working with S. S. Rajamouli on RRR, he said Rishab’s presence felt like meeting family.

The stunt director, known for his work in RRR and Manikarnika, added that his love for Indian cinema began in childhood while watching Raj Kapoor films with his mother. He was struck by Shetty’s portrayal of the demigod and the emotional clarity in Kantara’s storytelling.

Speaking on the action scale, Lazarov confirmed that ten international stunt fighters and hundreds of Indian artists were part of the climax, which took 28 days to film. He noted that the drama grew alongside the action, which he called rare in cinema.

Lazarov described Kantara: Chapter 1 as a film made for global audiences, with soul and depth that will resonate beyond India. Releasing on October 2, 2025, in seven languages including English, the film is set to continue the record-breaking journey of the first Kantara.
