Kochadaiyaan tickets to cost cheaper in TN!

Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiyaan will cost cheaper for fans. The movie was exempted from Entertainment tax by the State government for having a Tamil title. But a PIL was filed against the exemption and the entertainment tax of 15% ticket cost were imposed on the fans who already booked the tickets. However Madras High Court on Thursday made it clear that it can not interfere with the state government decision and issued the tax exemption.

Theaters have stopped collecting the tax amount with immediate effect. However this interim order does not have anything to do with the already issued tickets. As per the Tamil Nadu Entertainments Tax Act 1939, 15% of the gross collection of a film is paid as entertainment tax. Since 2006, Tamil Nadu government has been giving tax exemption to films which have Tamil titles and promote Tamil language and culture, besides enjoying ‘U’ certificate from Censor Board.
