Least Performer in Sankranthi Releases!

Venkatesh Saindhav

Four much-anticipated films were released this Sankranthi. “Hanu Man” was the least hyped one, yet it turned out to be the biggest blockbuster of the season. The film is on course to collect a 100-crore share, despite releasing in a limited number of theaters and having low ticket prices.

“Guntur Kaaram” had a sensational opening, but the film couldn’t sustain itself much and is somehow pulling in collections due to Mahesh Babu’s stardom and the festive season.

Nagarjuna’s “Naa Saami Ranga” has turned out to be a decent venture at the box office. The film is not a big hit but might achieve breakeven in the next few days, putting an end to Nagarjuna’s dry spell at the box office. The film is performing reasonably well in the Telugu states, though it’s a non-starter in the U.S.

However, there was one film that was rejected right from the word go, and that is Venkatesh’s “Saindhav.” Despite having big names like Venkatesh, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Shraddha Srinath, and Arya, and being directed by Sailesh Kolanu, who delivered successful films in the past, the film couldn’t even get a decent opening.

“Saindhav” was a complete nonstarter from the beginning, as the audience didn’t even give it a chance to begin with, neither in Telugu states nor in the US market. The breakeven point for the U.S. market is particularly high, and the film never showed any hope.

Poor music, dull promos, and a serious theme are said to be the prime reasons for the audience not showing even minimum interest in the film. After the release, the extremely poor word of mouth made things only worse.

The trade is claiming that “Saindhav” is one of the biggest disasters in Venkatesh’s illustrious career, on par with “Subhash Chandra Bose” and “Shadow.” However, Venky put forth his best effort for the film, but his efforts went to waste.
