BO Shocker: No Stars Small Film Thrashes Superstar

This Onam, the Malayalam film industry witnessed three major releases: Mohanlal’s Hridayapoorvam, Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen’s Lokah Chapter: 1 Chandra, and Fahadh Faasil’s Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira.

Among the three, Lokah and Hridayapoorvam are winning audience praise, while Fahadh Faasil’s Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira received poor reviews and failed to impress viewers.

Both Hridayapoorvam and Lokah are performing well at the box office. However, the surprise factor is Kalyani Priyadarshan’s Lokah, which is leading collections this festive season.

Before release, industry expectations were high for Mohanlal’s Hridayapoorvam to dominate. But Lokah, backed by strong word of mouth and a pan-India release, is currently outshining the superstar’s film in the Onam race.

Reports suggest Lokah has earned about 40 crores worldwide in just three days of its run. In comparison, Mohanlal’s Hridayapoorvam has collected nearly 24 crores. Lokah has also set a record by becoming the highest-grossing woman-centric film from South India within three days.

It remains to be seen how Lokah continues its journey at the box office and whether it will set new records in the Malayalam film industry.
