The much-awaited sequel to the 2024 Malayalam action-thriller Marco has been officially titled LORD Marco. The confirmation comes from the title registration certificate of the Film Producers and Distributors Association, which has gone viral online, exciting fans about the film’s return.
The certificate lists Haneef Adeni, representing Shareef Muhammad Films, as the applicant. However, fans may be disappointed as lead actor Unni Mukundan has confirmed he will not return for the sequel.
Mukundan shared that he is stepping away from the franchise to focus on other projects, including PM Modi’s biopic Maa Vande. The producers remain committed to the franchise and are looking for a new lead actor to take Marco’s story forward.
Marco, directed by Haneef Adeni and produced by Shareef Muhammad, released on 20 December 2024 and became a pan-India success, earning over Rs. 110 crores worldwide. The film featured Mukundan as Marco, a gangster out for revenge after his foster brother’s death.
Known for its brutal action sequences and dark tone, the film earned praise for its raw energy even if the story was considered predictable. With LORD Marco, the makers aim to take the franchise further with new characters and fresh twists. Fans are eager to see how the saga continues.
