Animated Film Beats Saiyaara’s Hype?

While the hype around Saiyaara is slowly fading, a silent yet powerful contender has emerged in Indian cinemas. Mahavatar Narsimha, an animated mythological film produced by Hombale Films, has shocked the industry with an unexpectedly strong box office debut in the Hindi belt.

The film, released on Friday, July 25, opened with a respectable ₹1.35 crore. It saw a massive 150% growth on Saturday, collecting ₹3.25 crore, followed by a 110% jump on Sunday, bringing in around ₹6.50–₹7.00 crore. This brings the 3-day Hindi total to ₹11.35 crore, setting up the film for a potentially long and lucrative run.

This is the first animated Indian film since the 2005 hit Hanuman to make such a cultural impact. Mahavatar Narsimha is drawing large audiences not just for its animation, but also due to its spiritual appeal. Temple organizations, saints, and devotees associated with Lord Krishna and Lord Vishnu are reportedly booking entire theatres, creating a devotional atmosphere with bhajans and kirtans during screenings.

Interestingly, while big commercial films like Son of Sardar 2 postponed their release fearing Saiyaara’s dominance, Mahavatar Narsimha took the risk—and it’s paying off. Shows across North India are running housefull, and the film is becoming a word-of-mouth success.

Fans are now urging the makers to continue building India’s animated cinematic universe rooted in mythology. The emotional and nostalgic value, combined with cultural devotion, is pushing Mahavatar Narsimha’s box office numbers beyond expectations.

With Saiyaara slowing down, and Mahavatar Narsimha rising steadily, the box office charts are witnessing a surprising new wave—one driven not by star power, but by story, soul, and spirit.
