Maniratnam’s hunt for Mahesh’s queen

It has come to our attention that Mani Ratnam is looking for a talented actress to take on the role of the female lead in his next bilingual film and actresses like Shruthi Haasan, Nayanthara, Asin, and Hansika Motwani have all risen to the occasion but so far Shruthi being the front runner.

Sources tell us that Mani Ratnam had initially interested in on Malayalam actress Nazriya Nazim for the female lead, however, when the actress announced that she is tying the knot Mani started looking out.

As rumours go, it is said that Mani’s team have sent up notices to the top casting firms around for an appropriate face opposite prince. All we know is that Mani is looking for an actress with a high glamour quotient and is even willing to experiment with a new face. Sources have also revealed that the ‘look test’ has already been performed for the newcomers.

Insiders say that Mani is perfectly likely to go with an emerging actress rather than one who is established. For him, content is the only thing that matters and the director is keeping his options open.
