The month of May is nearly done and dusted as we are nearly clocking the closure of the completion of the first half of the year. Now that this is nearly over, let’s have a look at the kind of films that were in offer in the last 30 days.
The month started with the arrival of Nani’s HIT 3 and Suriya’s Retro. While HIT was an okayish actioner that worked mildly, Retro was a washout from day 1.
Samantha’s cameo film Shubham came and left without any noise. Sree Vishnu’s Single catered to the younger generation of the audience. It had decent prospects due to the comedy quotient from the slapstick comedy that is used.
Hollywood’s Mission Impossible and Final Destination had also arrived at the box office and they both found the target audience. In particular, Final Destination: Bloodlines turned out to be a satisfactory watch.
Vijay Sethupathi arrived with Ace but this film also disappeared without a trace. It was a complete washout in Telugu.
This weekend, we have Bhairavam which has just opened in theatres this weekend and we have to see how it fares.
In terms of sheer numbers, HIT 3 is the absolute winner here as it had grossed over 100 crores at the box office, according to the communication from the makers. The rest have all been mediocre stuff.
