King Akkineni Nagarjuna is the only one among the senior four of Telugu cinema who seems to be lagging. While Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, and Venkatesh continue to hold their ground, Nagarjuna has fallen behind in the race. This is disheartening because he has always encouraged fresh talent and attempted different concepts, yet he is the one struggling the most.
He has even tried character-driven roles recently. In Sekhar Kammula’s Kubera, Nagarjuna earned some goodwill but it was not enough to change his career path. Dhanush eventually walked away with most of the appreciation. Nagarjuna also had high hopes pinned on Coolie, where he played a negative role, but it did not bring him either recognition or acceptance.
Now he is preparing for his prestigious 100th film with Tamil director Ra Karthik for an action backdrop film. A strong comeback is needed, not only to show his box office strength but also to reaffirm his legacy as one of the senior four heroes who gave Telugu audiences countless memorable films. With such a rich body of work behind him, a positive turn feels long overdue.
Fans are now hoping Nagarjuna finds the success he deserves with his next project, regains his lost image, and rebuilds the goodwill that has slowly faded over the past decade.
