Nag’s MEK, fraudsters menace surfaces in Hyd

Cheaters and Fraudsters are finding innovative ways to dupe people in Hyderabad. In the past couple of months, there is a mobile scam in which the fraudsters call random people posing as Production team of Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu, the Telugu version of Kaun Banega Crorepati.

The caller says the victim that that his phone number was randomly selected as his cellphone service provider was one of the promoters of the program and later asks him to pay 15000 as entry fee. It was only after depositing the money, many realize that they have been cheated.

Hyderabad Police confirm that they have got at least 30 complaints as such till now. Some gangs based in North India are behind this scam and they target people from South so that they do not get caught easily. Police are currently tracking the mobile numbers and bank accounts of the fraudsters and work with the police of those state to put an end to this menace.
