Balayya clarified about this rumour in his recent promotional interview. For this movie, Balakrishna left the decision to the makers of the movie. Nayantara‘s selection was done by the makers of the movie and Balakrishna didn’t know that they had approached Nayanatara.

Balakrishna reminisced how the professional relationship between them and how she wouldn’t reject him whenever he approached her for a role. But, for this movie the makers and the Tamil director KS Ravi Kumar was responsible for choosing the actress. Nayantara doesn’t promote her movies, nevertheless, she does complete justice to the characters she portrays.
