Nayan Prefers Yash, Samantha Comes To Rescue

A project involving Mammootty and director Gautham Vasudev Menon was in the works. There was buzz that Nayanthara might play the lead.

The film marks Gautham Vasudev Menon’s directorial debut in Malayalam and the shoot is going to start soon.

Now the latest news is that Nayanthara has stepped back due to prior commitments, and Samantha could join as Mammootty’s leading heroine.

If confirmed, it would mark Samantha’s Malayalam debut and her first feature film with Mammootty. The movie will primarily be shot in Chennai and is expected to be a stylish thriller.

The exact reasons for Nayanthara backing out are not clear, but she seems to have preferred to do Yash’s Toxic over Mammootty’s film. She felt Yash’s pan-India film would give her more visibility and scope as an actor and star in the long run.

Interestingly, Gautham Menon is also involved as an actor in Mammootty’s upcoming film Bazooka.
