Netflix India’s Rakt Brahmand – The Bloody Kingdom, directed by Raj & DK and co-directed by Rahi Anil Barve, has encountered major setbacks. These issues have forced delays in its schedule.
The series was originally set to begin the second schedule in Mumbai in February 2025, but now it is hit by allegations of financial fraud and creative struggles.
The show featuring Aditya Roy Kapur, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Ali Fazal, has been marred by a case of embezzlement involving the executive producer.
According to Rahul Raut of Peepingmoon.com, it’s alleged that he misappropriated 2-3 crores from the production, even though the show has only filmed for 26 days since its September 2024 start.
Reports suggest that 50% of the production’s budget was already spent which has raised concerns about the financial oversight of the project.
The financial issues were uncovered during a routine audit, leading to an in-depth investigation by Netflix and D2R Films. The focus is on irregularities in fund handling and potential dealings with third-party vendors. The specific details remain confidential as the inquiry is ongoing.
Sources suggest that the executive producer, who has a history of similar misconduct on past projects, was given unchecked authority over financial transactions, which has sparked further criticism.
Additionally, Rakt Brahmand has faced creative struggles, with director Rahi Anil Barve and writer Sita R. Menon reportedly making changes to the script on set, causing friction with Netflix.
The production is expected to resume in April, with preparations underway for the next outdoor action-packed schedule. Despite these issues, the show continues to promise an exciting and visually stunning action fantasy narrative.
