NNNM: Release Date Hurting Box Office Collections

In the film industry, sentiments and beliefs play a big role. From the day a film begins until it finally releases, filmmakers, heroes, and producers often follow several sentiments in the hope of ensuring success.

Now, a new sentiment was revealed by actor Sharwanand himself. His latest film Nari Nari Naduma Murari released during the Sankranthi festival and opened to positive talk. The film is performing decently, and the team celebrated the success with a press meet. During this event, Sharwanand said that the Sankranthi season has always worked in his favor.

According to him, every time one of his films released during Sankranthi, not only did his film perform well, but other films released alongside it also ran successfully. He cited examples like Express Raja, Sathamanam Bhavati, and now Nari Nari Naduma Murari. Because of this track record, Sharwanand requested directors and producers to reserve one Sankranthi slot for him every year. He also confirmed that he plans to return next Sankranthi with a new film directed by Srinu Vaitla and produced by Mythri Movie Makers.

However, box office wise, this situation can be seen quite differently. Nari Nari Naduma Murari is a nice entertainer with especially hilarious performances from senior Naresh, Satya, Venela Kishore, Sudarshan, and others. But it is undeniable that the film suffered heavily because of the crowded Sankranthi clash. Had it been released solo a few weeks later, for example during the January 26 Republic Day weekend, it could have earned much higher revenues.

Distributor Dil Raju released three films this Sankranthi, all of which received decent talk. Because of this, it became difficult to allocate maximum screens to Sharwanand’s film. Box office results depend heavily on the screen count and show availability, and in this case, the film lost potential revenue. Many believe that a solo release would have significantly boosted its collections.

While Sharwanand feels the release date turned out to be lucky for him, it is actually the release date that is hurting its box office collections.
