In what may be a surprising move in Hollywood history, Warner Bros. is opening IMAX 70MM ticket sales for The Odyssey.
Well, the shocking part is that this is happening a full year before the film’s scheduled release on July 17, 2026.
For the unversed, the film has been directed by Christopher Nolan and still in the middle of production. It is an epic adaptation of Homer’s ancient Greek poem that is already generating massive buzz.
Its all-star cast also features big names like Matt Damon and Tom Holland. Matt plays Odysseus, the war hero struggling to return home post-Trojan War, while Tom stars as his son on a quest to find him.
AMC, Harkins, and Cinemark listings have already begun surfacing in select cities, with full-scale ticket sales launching Thursday, July 17, 2025. Yes, you heard it right!
This is going to happen exactly a year ahead. In fact, that’s well ahead of WB’s previous record, when The Dark Knight Rises tickets went on sale six months before release.
With a reported $250 million budget, The Odyssey promises to be Nolan’s most ambitious project yet.
This kind of early ticketing shows just how much faith Warner Bros. is placing in Nolan’s audiences.
And if everything goes right, those IMAX 70MM tickets might be long gone before the cameras even stop rolling!
