After Pathaan’s phenomenal success, the Spy Universe became the top franchise in the country. Pathaan became an all-time blockbuster and became the first film to score 1000 crores in a single language. This success gave tremendous craze to subsequent Spy Universe films like Tiger 3 and WAR 2.
However, the scenario abruptly shifted in November when Tiger 3 flopped badly, transforming the once-exciting Spy Universe into a lackluster and unexciting franchise.
Even Hrithik Roshan’s latest film, Fighter, though not a part of the Spy Universe, found itself in a similar genre where the nation’s safety is at stake and Pakistan is the enemy. Despite boasting top-notch technical values, a grand scale, and a colossal budget, Fighter faced poor advance bookings, signaling that the audience is losing interest in such subjects.
Now, all eyes are on WAR 2, featuring Hrithik Roshan and NTR. In the aftermath of Tiger 3’s disappointment, reports suggest that producer Aditya Chopra and his team are relentlessly refining the script to eliminate any flaws witnessed in Tiger 3.
The much-anticipated WAR 2, once soaring high on expectations, suddenly fell into the danger zone and the hype came down after Tiger 3. Fans are praying that the film avoids the clichéd India vs. Pakistan narrative, which has become boring now.
For NTR, this film is extremely crucial, as this film is going to take him nearer to the mass audience in Hindi belts. He cannot afford the film to go wrong in any way.
However, there is hope all around that the first time coming together of two exceptional talents like Hrithik and NTR will take the hype to the next level as the release date approaches. If Fighter works after getting positive word of mouth, it will also benefit in increasing WAR 2’s buzz.
The bottom line is Yash Raj Films has to come out with a really interesting script for WAR 2 and Ayan Mukerji has to deliver big time in executing that script on the big screen in the most engaging way and do justice to the talents of Hrithik and NTR.
