Only Industry Failing to Crack ‘Pan India’?

“Pan India” is the new approach to elevate film budgets and scale for recovery. While the Tamil industry has penetrated Hindi audiences through Mani Ratnam and Rajinikanth movies, SS Rajamouli has made a significant impact for the Telugu industry.

The Kannada industry has also joined the race with films like KGF and Kantara.

Yet, one South industry still lags in the Pan India trend: the Malayalam industry, where filmmakers primarily rely on simple, low-budget films.

Now, Dulquer Salmaan’s King of Kotha marks the first truly Pan India Malayalam film, with dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi releasing simultaneously.

But can Dulquer break through Pan India with a film like King of Kotha? Is this the right kind of film to target multi-regional audiences with differing tastes in viewing? As of now, it doesn’t seem likely, but we will find out on August 24th.
