The South Indian film industry has seen a remarkable surge in box office successes, with several films crossing the coveted 500 crore mark in worldwide gross.
Topping the list is the monumental success of Baahubali 2, reigning supreme with an astonishing nearly 1800 crores in global earnings. Following closely are RRR with 1400 crores and KGF 2 with around 1200 crores.
Looking ahead, the landscape of Indian cinema is set to witness a flow of pan-Indian films in the next few months, many of which carry the potential to break the 500-crore barrier.
A few that have a high chance of collecting 500 crores or more are Pushpa 2, Kalki 2898 AD, and G.O.A.T. There are a few more that have an outside chance like Game Changer, Devara, Indian 2, and Kanguva.
To achieve the target of 500 crores, the movies have to do well in other languages as well and not just in their original versions.
The box office business in the Hindi markets is the main deciding factor. The potential is huge there as the B and C center Hindi audiences aren’t getting enough content from Bollywood. They are looking towards the South for entertainment that satiates their hunger and this presents a significant opportunity for the pan-India films to cash in on the demand.
Notably, Pushpa 2 stands out as a potential box office monster, with predictions suggesting it could achieve the 500 crore milestone within the first week of its release itself.
