Aascar Ravichandran is a top distributor and producer in Tamil cinema. For those who aren’t aware of his name he is the producer of films like Dasavatharam and I. He is known to make grand films and is never afraid to go all out as far as budget is considered or competition. When asked about risks involving such huge production like piracy this is what the producer had to say.
Ravichandran says that for a good film piracy is like publicity. People will watch good films in theatre irrespective of piracy and encourage it through word of mouth. It is only for the bad films that the piracy shows huge effect as the bad films sees big fall immediately. So while piracy is a menace it is still helpful this way feels the producer.
