Prabhas To Capture Shah Rukh Khan’s Market?

In the past decade, the United Kingdom has been a major overseas market for Hindi films. The evolution of the UK market for Indian films is illustrated by the journey from £100k for Do Raaste in 1970 to blockbuster heights, such as £4 million achieved by Pathaan in 2023.

UK is considered to be Shah Rukh Khan’s strongest zone with many blockbusters and milestones. After Pathaan, Jawan also collected more than £3 million in the UK.

Now, the spotlight is on Prabhas, whose upcoming film Kalki 2898 AD is poised to capture the UK market for Telugu films. The pre-sales for the film are among the highest ticket sales within the first 24 hours for any Indian film in the UK—a testament to Prabhas’ increasing star power in the UK.

As Kalki 2898 AD approaches its UK premiere, anticipation is high, with early reports suggesting a superb start of approximately 9500 tickets sold already.

Among Telugu films, Baahubali 2 reigns supreme with a staggering gross of £1.82 million, while RRR follows with £1.03 million.

Prabhas’ previous outing, Salaar, though quite successful, fell short of breaking records with a gross of £0.620 million.

Eyes are now on whether Prabhas can breach the coveted £1 million mark with Kalki 2898 AD. It would be a phenomenal achievement for Prabhas as he would become the first Telugu hero to do it without the support of the SS Rajamouli brand.
