TFTDDA Power Fight Gets a Court Twist

The TFTDDA power struggle has taken a serious legal turn. A court has stopped the General Body meeting scheduled for September 13, putting an immediate brake on the rival camp’s plans.

The Kukatpally court has passed an interim injunction against the proposed meeting and has also restrained the use of the association’s seals and letterheads. The order further prevents anyone from issuing letters to banks or other authorities in the name of the association until further orders.

The dispute is between the faction led by president V.V. Sumalatha, wife of choreographer Jani Master, and the group led by Raghu Master. The fight has been escalating for months, with both sides challenging the other’s authority over the association. The earlier dispute had already led to demands for fresh elections and allegations over the functioning of the body.

The latest petition alleged that an August 30 meeting was conducted without following the association’s rules and that another General Body meeting was being planned for September 13 at a hotel in Indira Nagar.

After examining the material and police complaints placed before it, the court issued the interim order and notices to the respondents. The next hearing has been scheduled for October 12.

For now, the September 13 meeting cannot go ahead. The court order has effectively frozen the latest move in the TFTDDA power battle, leaving both camps to face the next round in court.
